Patrick Schlesinger

Developer of ReportedIP and owner of CMS ADMINS, Munich

Patrick Schlesinger builds and runs ReportedIP from Munich and writes the posts in this news section. Through his agency CMS ADMINS he has maintained WordPress and Drupal websites for companies, agencies and freelancers since 2012.

ReportedIP grew out of that day-to-day work on client sites: the security tools he built for the sites he maintains are now published for every WordPress site and Linux server.

What Patrick works on

  • ReportedIP Hive: WordPress security plugin with 16 attack sensors, two-factor login with four methods and a two-layer firewall.
  • ReportedIP Linux Agent: Loads the community blacklist into the server firewall and reports attacks it finds in the local logs.
  • Community blacklist: The public list of attacking addresses that every site and server in the network contributes to.
  • DNSBL zone: The same data as a DNS blocklist for mail servers.
  • Honeypot Server: A trap that poses as WordPress, Drupal and Joomla and reports whoever probes it.
  • Free tools: IP, DNS, mail and security header checks that run in the browser.
  • CMS ADMINS: WordPress and Drupal maintenance from Munich, since 2012.

How the posts are written

  • Release posts are written from the public changelog of each version and checked against the code before they go out.
  • Threat reports name the period and the data they are based on.
  • Every post is written in English and translated into German, French and Spanish; the English version is the reference.
  • A post that is corrected after publication shows an updated date.
